12/26/99 - Short Six - 5.74 Miles

     1 Dave Fergus 36:18
     1 Becki Kriege 36:18
     1 Ray Russell 36:18
     4 Danny Moon 37:26
     5 Tom Warfel 37:28
     6 Tim Rostege 38:13
     7 Todd Hayes 38:46
     8 Dick Chimenti 40:22
     9 Russ Kinsch 48:46
10 Walt Van Zant 50:21 PW
    11 Rich Collins 50:51 PW
    12 Jutta McCormick 51:31
    12 Antonina Ettare 51:31
    14 Rich Stiller 51:36

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Tom Warfel

Danny dashed off to a fast start and led at the top of the hill before the foursome of Fergus, Kriege, Russell, and Warfel whooshed by him. Warfel had to let go on Sobey road and the remaining three strolled to a tie for first. Danny recovered to sprint by Tom at the very end. Walt and Rich duked it out to see who would have the worst PW.

As an example of how far Rich and I have deteriorated, here are the 8/4/79 results during which run I slipped by Rich at nearly the same spot as yesterday.

8/4/79
     1 Walt Van Zant 34:38
     2 Rich Collins 34:55 PR
     3 Ken Napier 35:14
     4 Bill Meinhardt 35:14
     5 Charlie Roskosz 36:31
     6 Carl Martin 37:56
     7 Bob Browne 38:21
     8 Glen Douglas 38:54
     9 Rich Stiller 40:03
    10 Dick Barrett 46:51

Bill Meinhardt (31:28 PR) may have been in the middle of marathon training then or just loafing. I assume that Rich Stiller was also loafing as he ran 32:07 in December 1978. It should be noted that Glen Douglas, who ran 38:54 on this date, later ran 36:20. He has a recent PW of 51:06. However, I believe that he has the potential for slower performances. Ken Napier, who has a PR of 31:49, has a recent PW of 48:30. Under the right conditions he too could go over 50:00. The performances by Rich Stiller, Jutta McCormick, and Antonina Ettare do not count as PWs as they were talking and having a good time at the back of the pack yesterday. A performance can only be counted as a PW when the runner is trying reasonably hard.

Don Hogue won a Saturday run for the first time in awhile. Kelly was just 4 seconds over her PR while leading the women. Demetrios knocked one minute off his PR. Elaine ran her second consecutive PR while moving to #10 on the 40+ list. Howard mistakenly ran the Farwell/Herriman course.

Dave Fergus and Danny Moon started quickly and ran together for about a mile before Danny went into the tank. Todd Hayes, fresh from a 6:57 50-miler a week ago, finished 2nd. Antonina knocked 37 seconds off her 45+ PR. Georgia recorded the #2 time by a female 55+ runner. Ralph Poole tied his own 60+ #2 time. Russ Smith improved his PR by 63 seconds. Marion Carter ran his first road run of the year and impressed many of the onlookers with a PW. He turns 69 tomorrow.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Ralph Poole

Nathan Scherry led this race all of the way until the last 100 yards, when Scott finally caught and sprinted by him. This will be Nathan's last run with us for awhile as the Navy has moved him to Rhode Island. Katie Spink of the Aggies led an excellent women's field as she finished 8 seconds under the club record for this course. Ralph Poole broke Norm Saucedo's 60+ record for this course by 3 seconds. Bill Flodberg improved his own 65+ course record by 33 seconds.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Jeff Rohrer

There were many worthy candidates for the trophy this morning. Ray Russell ran the #8 time for 40+ runners, Amanda Gerhardt led the ladies, Ralph Poole ran the #4 time for a 60+ runner, Rich Hahn improved his PR by 30 seconds, Kelly Emo improved her PR by 4 seconds and she has been running this course for many years, John Pickens improved his PR by 85 seconds, Howard Powers broke 50:00 for the first time in 6 years. But, the trophy went to Jeff Rohrer. The aging Jeff will turn 40 next month but still was able to come within 5 seconds of his PR, which he ran 5 years ago. There was a sad note for the day. Renowned pathfinder Howard Powers, concerned that his son Larry had become lost, set out to find him. Larry made it back to the finish. But, Howard had not been sighted by the time that all of us loyal club members left.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Jutta McCormick

I think that Nathan led all the way for a fine 19:06 time. Kristina Mathias led all the ladies with a good 21:30. John Pickens improved his (soft) P.R. by about three minutes but we gave the trophy to Jutta for setting a 55-59 P.R. with a very fine 25:58 - Jutta will turn 60 next year !!

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - The Francis Team

Due to a 60-second error by an unidentified handicapper, the Francis team won this morning. They started first but all other teams should have started one minute sooner. However, they deserved the win as one or more members of the next four teams received favorable handicaps due to alleged illnesses or injuries or due to lack of knowledge of their running ability. All teams were rated to finish in 26:15. The Russell team was very fast as they averaged 31.7 per 200. Danielle Zelinski and Carol Mendoza appeared to be the fastest of the women runners. Jutta McCormick ran 33+ on her last 200.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Rich Hahn

This was our final track 5K in our Racer of the Year contest. Scott Bang and Ray Russell immediately jumped into the #1 and 2 slots at the start of the race. Scott held the lead for 6 laps, building a 10-yard lead during the early part of the 4th lap. However, Ray immediately came back and finally threw in his own spurt on the 7th lap as he went on to an easy win. Ray had mile splits of 5:17 and 10:35. Scott's splits were 5:17 and 10:44. Scott had the best finish as he kicked in with a 68. Nathan Scherry, despite running a hard 13-miler on Thursday, finished 3rd with a 17:01. Kelly Emo led the ladies with her sub-20:00 performance but it wasn't good enough to beat her arch rival - Rich Hahn. He PRd with a 19:56. One of the buttons on the stop watch was inadvertently hit. Thus, all times were automatically rounded up on the watch. As an example, if you ran a 19:56.1, you got credit for 19:57.

9/11/99 - Farwell/Herriman - 4.68 Miles

     1 Jim Bordoni 27:56
     2 Todd Hayes 33:01

     5 Gena Strong 38:51
     6 Dave McCarten 39:18
     7 Glen Douglas 41:41

Runners had their choice of running the 5K on the track or the Farwell/Herriman course. The above seven chose the Farwell/Herriman course.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Antonina Ettare

The Ettare, Kinsch, and Van Zant teams started first and stayed there as they swept the first three places. Antonina was the star of the day as she started a little in front of an exhausted Russ Kinsch on the last lap and held the lead. Mike Hegglund apparently had the best average for the men at 69 and Carol Mendoza apparently led the ladies at 80.

We had a rather small group this AM due to the Record Busting Run of the 60+ team at SJCC. Nonetheless we had some great times and races. As you can see from the results, if Nathan Scherry hadn't been home on leave from the U.S. Navy, the ladies would have gotten the first three places - as it was, I'm sure the ladies have never finished 2,3,4, since we started our Sat. A.M. runs more than 30 years ago. In addition, Marian Richards improved her time for this year by 1:51 and was awarded the weekly Barrett Trophy. (Six of the first eleven finishers today were our fast ladies) One of the best races though was between Dave Norlander and Brian Low. They entered the campus together and ran stride for stride until the very last when Brian pulled ahead slightly to beat Dave by about 3 sec. Rich Hahn just missed his P.R. by three seconds and scored another win over his arch rival - Kelly. Thanks to Pauline Beatty and Chris Hallen - there wasn't a single glich in the timing - good job, thanks.

Bill Flodberg ran the best-ever 65+ time, besting Ken Napier's record by 7 seconds. Demetrios knocked 2+ minutes off his PR. Carol dropped out due to a hamstring injury. Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Howard Powers

Bob Pickens started out very fast on the uphill of the first mile but then couldn't handle the pace and fell back to finish second. Dave Beauley, running in a unique pair of shoes that feature metal springs in their heels, controlled his leaping strides by pushing off tree limbs to keep himself from going too high. Howard Powers had his game face on today as he came within one second of his 70+ PR. His race day featured elbowing Pauline off the course when she tried to pass him on El Camino Grande and then arguing at the finish that he actually ran 21 seconds faster than he was given credit for. Demetrios improved his PR by nearly two minutes, Rich Hahn improved his PR by 52 seconds while polishing off his nemesis -Kelly Emo, and Brian Low improved his PR by 45 seconds.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Bob Pickens

Race #1 Pauline led after one lap in 93. Matt then took over and passed the half mile in 3:10 before pulling away from the field with 85 and 82 on the last 2 laps. Greg Shuster, Ken Napier, Dave McCarten, Tom Zades, Howard Powers, Madelyn Moon, and Stan DeMartinis improved on their 6/12 mile times.

Race #2 Jonathan Lee grabbed the lead right away and kept lengthening it as he ran laps of 85, 83, 82, and 79. Ken Noel dropped out after running the first half in 2:59 because he strained his hamstring. Steve Kurasch ran with us for the first time in over a year, finishing with a respectable 5:35. Kelly Emo bested her arch rival and training partner, Rich Hahn, by a couple of seconds as both of them improved on their 6/12 mile times.

Race #3 Bob Pickens ran easy for the first 100 meters and then sprinted down the backstretch to take the lead. He ran 68 for the first lap and Scott Bang was close behind in 70. Bob stretched his lead to 4 seconds over Scott after 2 laps, which he reached in 2:17. Scott closed a little bit during the 3rd lap as they came through that split in 3:29 and 3:32. Many thought that Scott would be able to catch Bob during the final lap as Scott had recently run a 4:36 mile after running a 2:01 half. However, Bob kept running strong and actually increased his lead as he finished with a 69 last lap. Eddie Tico and Jim Bordoni finished 3rd and 4th with sub-5:00 times. Mike Bordoni missed cracking 5:00 by a fraction.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Joann Dahlkoetter

Dwight Cornwell started fast in his effort to break Tim Rostege's 50+ course record of 19:31 and no one saw him after the first mile. He missed the record by 13 seconds in his solo effort. But, it was still a very good effort. He was only 11 seconds over his PR, which he set 17 years ago. The real race was for second place as Dave Fergus, Becki, and Jennifer ran together until there was about three quarters of a mile to go. Then, Dave stepped up the pace and pulled away to finish second. Joann took home the weekly trophy as she moved to #3 on the women's 45+ list with her time. Ken Noel moved to #10 on the men's 60+ list.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Russ Kinsch & Jutta McCormick

We had a light turnout this morning as there were many other events going on this weekend. Jutta McCormick put her team into the lead during the first relay leg and they stayed there the rest of the way. However, Russ had to run hard on the last lap in order to hold off Becki. Tim O'Rourke had the best average at 3:34 as he finished with a 3:22 on his final leg. Becki Kriege led the ladies with a 3:51 average.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Ray Russell

Several runners wanted to run at 7AM and Dick Chimenti gave them some assistance. He paced Dwight through opening laps of 72.5 and 2:30 before dropping out in order to save himself for a 5K race tomorrow. Dwight continued through three laps in 3:47.5 before finishing with a 76.

In the second race, Sue started slow, took the lead after one lap in 92, passed through two and three laps in 3:05 and 4:37 before finishing with an 86-second last lap. Jutta and Ken, after starting slow (3:15? at the half), finished strong for a 6:15.

Cecil did not get to the starting line in time for the start of the third race, losing about a half second. Dave Garcia took the early lead, passing through the quarter and half in 82 and 2:47. Cecil took the lead shortly before the end of the third lap, running the last lap in 80 to hold off Tom Warfel for the win. Kelly Emo showed great speed at the end to nip Dave Garcia and Rich Hahn.

Race #4 was the best race. Jim Doran held the lead through laps of 67 and 2:19. Ray Russell took over the lead during the third lap and held the lead at three laps in 3:34. Jim then passed him and held the lead until the last yard when Ray barely got by him. Danny Moon came close to breaking 5:00 in the mile for the zillionth year in a row but missed due to poor pacing. He opened with a 73 and then threw in a 70 before fading to 80 and 79 on the 3rd and 4th laps.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Ray Russell & Scott Bang

The Russell/Bang team was allowed to start 3 minutes earlier than they should have started and used this gift to score an easy win. Ray Russell was seen later in the morning treating Ken Napier to breakfast. The Myers/Bronson team did not grease Ken's palms with any money and, accordingly, started 2 minutes later than they should have. They finished last. Ray Russell and Scott Bang had the best averages for the 10 laps of running with an average of 72 seconds per lap. Kelly Emo led the ladies with her best-ever average for this workout at 89 seconds per lap. Norm Saucedo showed that he is starting to return to good form as he averaged 92 seconds per lap.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Dwight Cornwell

As was the case last week, all runners were given the option of running either the Farwell-Herriman course or the Douglas course. Sue Pickens and Dena Noble made a wrong turn and ran 4.25 miles.

After an early spurt by Danny Moon, Tim O'Rourke eventually took control of the Douglas course race and easily won as he recorded the #8 40+ time for the course. Dwight Cornwell broke Tim Rostege's 50+ course record by 6 seconds.

Kristina and Becki led for the first three miles of the Farwell-Herriman course race before Slim Pickens passed them and went on to win by a minute. Kristina improved her PR by 29 seconds to move to #2 on the women's list. Becki stayed with Kristina until the last 200 yards while recording her best time on this course in over three years. Jutta, although loafing, still broke her own women's 55+ record by a minute. Ralph Poole and Dave Norlander recorded the #4 and #9 times by 60+ men runners. Matt Bordoni improved his PR by 4 minutes. Norm Saucedo took a bad fall on Saratoga Ave. Brian Low and Brian Schonfeld stopped to help him. Norm struggled to his feet and then went on to beat his helpers.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Scott Bang

The scheduled run for this morning was the Douglas course. However, due to the fact that the double-gate area was covered with debris from tree trimmimg, all were given the choice of running either the Farwell/Herriman course or Douglas. Most chose Douglas and it worked out okay. Probably, just a few seconds were lost in the poor-footing area. Scott battled Slim Pickens for a couple of miles before pulling away for his third consecutive Saturday road win. He was given the weekly trophy because he knoced 28 seconds off his PR while recording the #19 all-time best for this course. Slim knocked 37 seconds off his PR, Kristina improved by 11 seconds, and Brian Low improved by 37 seconds. Dwight Cornwell missed Tim Rostege's 50+ course record by 5 seconds. Ralph Poole moved to #3 on the 60+ list. Howard Powers improved his 70+ best by 19 seconds but is still 4+ minutes behind Dave Valles' 70+ course record. Hank Lawson led the men 40+ runners. Sue Francis led the 40+ women and Chris Hallen led the 50+ women. All will be given the same option next Saturday. They can either run the Farweel-Herriman course or the Douglas course.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Scott Bang

Scott Bang ran to an easy win this morning, trouncing a less-than-stellar field as he missed his PR by 3 seconds. Amanda Gerhardt scored a close win in the women's field as she missed her PR by 9 seconds. Dick Chimenti led the 50+ men, Ralph Poole led the 60+ men, and Dave Garcia led the 40+ men. Sue Francis led the 40+ women and Georgia Riley led the 50+ ladies. Danny Moon continued his spiral to the bottom. His last 4 runs on this course have been in 17:36, 18:03, 18:23, and 18:28. Walt VanZant had his slowest finish from the top of the hill to the finish in the 21 years that he has been running the course. On a more positive note, Cecil ran his best time on this course in 3 years. Dave Garcia (best time of 16:01) looked like a runner again as he broke 20:00 on this course for the first time in 8 years. Don Packwood had his best performance since his hamstring injury (However, I didn't question his wife). Mike Andrakin ran this course for the first time in 13 years and didn't get lost.

10 Pickins-McCarten 28:09
11 D. Moon-Antonina 29:15
12 Hayes-M. Moon 30:30
13 Russell-T.Kinsch 35:08

As you can see by the times, my "fast runner/slow runner", method of handicapping didn't work too well. However, some runners did the usual B.S.'ing - Scherry said he would run slow, he then opened with a 1:39 first 600. Russell said he would run slow - he did - Teri had a better average the Ray. Since Teri ran her last 600 all alone-and she was really kicking-in in spite of her last place finish we gave her the Barrett Trophy.

13 Poole/Warfel/DeMartinis 25:12
14 Mathias/Packwood/McPhail 25:43

The weekly trophy was given to the 2nd place team as the winning team wasn't handicapped, just thrown together at the last minute.

The real highlight of the morning was the "Happy Birthday" serenade for Ken Napier by the whole crew.

Phantom Dick Barrett Trophy - Rich Hahn

Scott Bang was the designated rabbit for this race but got too far ahead. Thus, when Dwight Cornwell got to Chester, he guessed wrong and turned left. Tim O'Rourke followed him off course as they ran at least another extra mile (Chester bends back to Sobey; so, Dwight and Tim got to run Sobey Rd and Ten Acres again). Amanda Gerhardt of the Aggie led the ladies. Jim Bordoni led the 40+ men and David Furst led the 50+ men with the #7 50+ time for this course. Joann Dahlkoetter led the 40+ ladies while recording the #3 45+ time. Chris Hallen led the 50+ ladies while recording the #4 50+ time. Dave Norlander, despite stopping to recover Rich Hahn's cap for him, ran well enough to record the #6 60+ time for this course. Mike Andrakin ran this course for the first time since March 1984 and was rewarded with a PW, exceeding his previous worst by 5 minutes. Congratulations, Mike. Dave McCarten exceeded his worst by 4 minutes but I'm not sure whether he was making a legitimate effort.

Despite the cold and windy conditions this morning, there were some very good times. Nathan led the race from start to finish with Ray closing on him during the last half mile - not quite enough to catch him. Ray led the 40+ men, Dwight Cornwell led the 50+ men (Bob Anderson ran with us this A.M. and ran a very respectable 20:56 for 2nd 50+) Ralph Poole led the 60+ men and moved into 2nd place overall for the 60+ men with a very fine 22:44. Howard Powers was the lone 70+ runner and finished in 33:44. Katy Spink led the ladies with a fine 21:16 followed by Kristina Mathias in 21:20 and Beckie at 21:23 - (some very fast ladies here.) Sue Francis, on her comeback trail, cruised to an easy win for the 40+ ladies in 27:24, followed by Pauline in 27:56. Chris Hallen won the 50+ ladies race in 29:57 followed by Grace Voss in 30:49.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Nathan Scherry

As you can see my team won handily. It was a pretty good race for several laps. Then, Sherry wore them down. He started out with a 63 - ended up with a 69 - averaged about 70. I had to tell him to slow down - I wasn't getting enough rest !!! Stan and Ruby did an excellent job of timing.

* Ran at 7:30AM
** Actual time after substracting for the 4:00 late start

Jose and Nathan ran together this morning until Jose accelerated away with a mile to go. Ray then came on to pass Nathan with a little over a quarter mile to go to get second while tying for #5 on the 40+ list with Bill Meinhardt. Jose's time tied him for #6 on the overall list. Tim O'Rourke improved his PR by 7 minutes. Katie Spink ran 23 seconds under the female course record (However, you must be a club member to be listed). Katie is a member of the Aggies. Danny Moon led the men 50+ runners. Mike Bordoni improved his PR by 3 minutes. Al Morrison ran with us for the first time in about a year. Tom Warfel improved his 50+ PR by 25 seconds. Jutta McCormick led the 50+ ladies.

There were snafus with the timing and placing but all has been squared away. We had two watches. The timer decided not to use the printer watch because the printing was very light and accidentally hit the stop button instead of the split timer on the other watch for the first 3 runners before noticing the error. However, when the timer splits for the remaining times were compared to others who timed themselves, it was determined that the watch was off by somewhere between 38.8 and 39.5 seconds. So, I added 39 seconds to everyone's times. The display clock was started approximately 6 seconds late. Stick #4 was out of synch with the other sticks and some runners did not get a stick but we got it figured out. Thanks to Hank Lawson for stopping the traffic on Fruitvale for our initial cross.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Tim O'Rourke

Tim O'Rourke hung with Nathan all of the way and then sprinted away from him at the start of the college entrance for the victory. Tim improved his weak PR by 83 seconds. Becki Kriege led the group of all-star lady runners by a few seconds. John Bronson improved his PR by 104 seconds. Marlon improved his PR by 45 seconds (and was not followed by his favorite dog). Rich Hahn improved his PR by 8 seconds. Chris Hallen, although loafing, still recorded the #8 women's 50+ time for this course. Dave Norlander ran his best time on this course since he recorded a 31:17 in April 1994. Dave turns 60 in 9 days. If he runs the same time as he did today when he runs the course again, he will move to #3 on the 60+ list. And, now for the hall of ill fame. Danny Moon, who has slipped a lot lately, ran his slowest time in 18 years of running this course. His time was 68 seconds slower than his previous worst. Gene Antonides ran 106 seconds over his previous worst but has an excuse in that he is coming back from an injury. Glen Douglas exceeded his previous worst, set in February 1989, by nearly 2 minutes. And, Walt VanZant, who has been running this course for over 20 years, exceeded his previous worst (set in 1995) by a little over 2 minutes. Rich Collins, after being passed by Elaine and Chris on Los Gatos-Saratoga Rd, claimed an achilles injury and got a ride back to the finish.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Tim Rostege

We had good cool (but not cold) conditions for running this morning but there were no outstanding performances. Eddie Tico hung onto Slim Pickens shoulder throughout the run and then sprinted by him at the end for the victory. Frank Ruona of Tamalpa ran well to lead all of the 50+ runners while finishing 3rd. Kristina ran 18:50 as part of her long run of the week to lead the ladies. The same dog that followed Marlon last week ran with him again. However, the dog was disqualified because he only ran the last half of the course. Ken Napier was delighted with his performance. He ran 25:28 for 5K last week. Then, came down with the flu and did not run all week. Yet, he ran 23:24 for a hilly 3 miles this morning. Tim Rostege, who has been training hard over the last couple of months to get back into top form received the weekly trophy because of his strong run this morning.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Dwight Cornwell

This was the first of two 5Ks that we will run this year for purposes of our Racer of the Year contest. The next 5K will be run in July. The runners in the first heat had to run in freezing cold temperatures. A warm flow of air came in for the next heat and it seemed like it was 10 or 15 degrees warmer for that heat.

Don Hogue opened with a 5:29 mile in the first heat to build a 50-yard lead on Bob Pickens and held that lead the remainder of the way. 52-year-old Dwight immediately grabbed the lead in the second heat and held it the rest of the way for the win. He had 1600 and 3200 splits of 5:35 and 11:10. Women took three of the next four places with Katie Spink leading the way with a 17:48. Kristina Mathias bettered her best time from last year by 4 seconds. Mike Bordoni edged his dad by a little bit. A dog followed Marlon from Valle Vista during his warmup back to the track. We thought that we had locked the dog out of the track but he circled around to find another gate and caught up with Marlon after about 150 meters and then dogged him the rest of the race.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Gene Antonides

Jose Palalia, ably assisted by Marion Carter who drove his car to direct Jose around the course, ran to the 8th fastest time ever run on this course and the easy win. It was rainy and cold this morning. So, it was surprising that 31 hardy souls showed up for this run. Kristina, Becki, Hillary, and Cecil ran the course as part of a 20-mile run for the morning. Howard ran in an outfit that appeared to be pajamas but was still good enough to beat Stan. Antonina was pleased to post her first time as a 45-year-old (her birthday was on 1/19).

All teams were rated to finish in 40:30 except for the Palalia team. They were a late-minute addition and were allowed to start with the Tico team. John Bronson led his team to a second place finish with a 3:07 average, 78 seconds under his rating. Rick Kananen celebrated the expected Minnesota win over Atlanta tomorrow by wearing a Viking outfit during his runs. Jose Palalia, Slim Pikcens, and Eddie Tico had the best averages at 2:19, 2:33, and 2:38. Danny Moon was apparently paid off by gamblers as he threw in splits of 2:50, 2:47, 2:47, and 2:57 along with his other splits of 2:29 and 2:41. Jake White was very happy with his average of 3:01 and thought that he deserved the weekly trophy. So, he was given it.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Jose Palalia

Jose would have run the Farwell-Herriman course this cold morning if Slim Pickens hadn't sprinted about 300 yards down Saratoga-Sunnyvale Rd to let Jose know that he should have turned onto to Saratoga Ave at the firehouse. Jose was able to recover and come back to win. Slim just jogged to the finish.

Dick Barrett Trophy Winner - Terri Kinsch

Jeff Rohrer came roaring from 10 seconds out of the lead to give his team a 3-second lead with a half lap to go. Russ Kinsch, who was not feeling well, was then forced to run his little heart out to hold off Joe Hurtado for the win. All teams were rated to finish in 37:30. The Powers team started 30 seconds later than their scheduled start.
